We are excited to announce we have been awarded an American Architecture Prize for Liepāja Thermal Bath. Heptagon House also received an Honorable Mention from the jury.
The American Architecture Prize honors designs in the disciplines of architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture with the goal of advancing the appreciation of architecture worldwide.
We are excited to share the news that Liepaja Thermal Bath and Bandersnatch have received American Architecture Awards! These awards are given by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies for the best new buildings designed and constructed in the U.S.
“America’s most prominent architecture firms have all made the grade and show why the United States architectural talent and ambition is famed around the world,” states Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, President, The Chicago Athenaeum.
An exhibit of awarded projects, entitled New American Architecture, will take place at the Turkish Chamber of Architects in Istanbul and travel to Contemporary Space in Athens. Projects will be included in the forthcoming book, New American Architecture: Global Design + Urbanism XVI, published by Metropolitan Arts Press.

"American architect Steven Christensen accepted the challenge of taking the dome form to unprecedented heights . . . The pièce de résistance is the third-floor outdoor pool suspended in a hemisphere with a glassed-in view of the surroundings. This antechamber embodies the entire plan's visionary audacity."
We are thrilled that the Liepaja Thermal Bath has won an AZ Award in the "Best Unbuilt Competition Entry" category! The jury narrowed 720 entries from 43 countries to a shortlist of 66 finalists, before choosing one winner in each of the 19 competition categories.
According to juror Brendan MacFarlane: "Everyone on the jury was enraptured by what one could experience swimming in this complex. The light conditions alone are absolutely stunning."
